Inside interior designer Jeremiah Brent’s New York City offices

Ten years ago, Jeremiah Brent was standing in an empty Los Angeles apartment, having sold all his furniture (and even his car) to pay for an LLC. It was a leap of faith.
Now he’s a celebrated interior designer with bi-coastal design houses where he relishes “creating spaces that make people feel something.”
But not all of his projects are for clients. As he began to build out his multi-story Greenwich Village office space, he faced a particular challenge: how to create the functional and elegant storage he needed for his vast collection of samples and swatches

“The conference room serves many purposes. I wanted it to be an elevated yet serene space that celebrates versatility and creativity.”

How California Closets did it
Jeremiah turned to a resource he knew well. Designer Keith Johnson and his California Closets New York City team have worked with Jeremiah in the past, but it was always for his clients. This time, it was for the interiors expert himself.
After visiting the conference room during construction, Keith designed a wrap-around wall unit in an earthy, natural finish with bold, black hardware to complement Jeremiah’s self-described “monastic” style. Then he incorporated plenty of details to make the unit unique. Every drawer box includes adjustable dividers to hold the firm’s many fabric and paint samples, hidden file drawers keep client projects tidy, and recessed outlets installed in the countertop offer on-demand power. Along the top of the wall unit, reinforced, custom fascia accommodates the pendant light fixtures Jeremiah sourced himself.

“While the aesthetics of the unit are beautiful, I love how functional it is. I know how important it is to be able to store samples in a way that is both practical and accessible.”
